The maelstrom was stirred up after Jongyeol “Saebyeolbe” Park, of South Korean esports team Seoul Dynasty, on April 13 described Hong Kong and Taiwan as independent countries during an esports livestream on the Twitch platform. “I feel sad and my life without meaning. What are you talking about, one China? I don’t want to succumb,” he said. “But my manager said to me: ‘If you want to earn Chinese money, you must be the Chinese people’s dog.’”

事緣於上月13日，Saebyeolbe結束鬥魚直播實況後，回到個人Twitch平台繼續開台，他在邊玩《鬥陣特攻》邊聊天的過程中，一度把台灣和香港以國家來稱呼，隨後更說：「我覺得很難過，人生，這沒有道理，你們到底在說些甚麼，一個中國？我不想配合，但經理就對我說『如果你想賺中國人的錢，你就必須當中國人的狗。』」
